The treatment you’re curious about and find the answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Q: What is PRP therapy?

A: PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for the face is a cosmetic procedure that uses the patient's own blood to stimulate collagen production and rejuvenate the skin on the face. The patient's blood is drawn, processed to extract the platelet-rich plasma, and then injected back into the face to promote healing and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

Q: How does PRP therapy work for the face

A: PRP therapy utilises the growth factors and healing properties of the patient's blood. The blood is drawn and centrifuged to separate the plasma rich in platelets and growth factors. This platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the face, stimulating collagen production, enhancing cell regeneration, and improving skin tone and texture.

Q: What are the benefits of PRP therapy?

A: PRP therapy for the face has several benefits, including:

  1. Skin rejuvenation: PRP stimulates collagen production, which helps to improve skin elasticity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and give the skin a more youthful appearance.

  2. Natural results: Since PRP uses the patient's blood, there is no risk of allergic reactions or rejection. The results are natural-looking and can last for several months.

  3. Minimal downtime: PRP therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that requires little to no downtime, allowing patients to resume their regular activities quickly.

  4. Safe and well-tolerated: PRP therapy is generally considered safe and well-tolerated, as it uses the patient's own blood, reducing the risk of complications or side effects.

Q: How long does a PRP therapy session for the face take?

A: A typical PRP therapy session for the face can take about 60 minutes to an hour, depending on the individual case and the treatment plan recommended by the healthcare provider.

Q: Is PRP therapy painful?

A: PRP therapy for the face is usually well-tolerated by most patients. The procedure involves injections, which may cause mild discomfort or slight pinching. However, a topical numbing cream or local anesthesia can be applied to minimize any discomfort during the treatment.

Q: How many PRP therapy sessions are recommended?

A: The number of PRP therapy sessions recommended for the face may vary depending on the individual's skin condition and treatment goals. Generally, 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart may be recommended for optimal results. Maintenance treatments may be suggested after that to maintain the desired outcome.

Q: What can I expect after PRP therapy?

A: After PRP therapy for the face, there may be some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which usually resolves within a few hours to a few days. Most patients can resume their regular activities immediately after the treatment. Results may vary, but over time, the skin may appear smoother, firmer, and more rejuvenated.

Q: AFTERCARE

5-7 Days

Q: Who is a good candidate for PRP therapy?

A: PRP therapy for the face is generally suitable for individuals looking to improve their skin's overall appearance, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance skin tone and texture. Good candidates are typically in good overall health, do not have any contraindications to the procedure, and have realistic expectations about the results.

WHAT IS PRP?

We all have platelets in our blood. PRP is a 3-step procedure that involves having your blood:

Drawn from your arm

Placed into a machine that separates the platelets from the rest of your blood

Re-injected into you (only the part of your blood that contains a high concentration of platelets).

Q: What area can be treated?

Fine lines, wrinkles, and other facial areas

Crows’ feet, under eye dark circles and hollows

Acne scarring and other superficial scars

Sun-damaged areas and pigmentation

Stretch marks – abdomen, thighs, and buttocks

Aging skin on the neck and decolletage

Treating uneven skin tone and texture

Q: What will I notice?

Improved skin tone, texture, and tightness

Smoother skin

Glowing skin

Improved appearance of scars

Q: Can I have PRP with other treatments?

Absolutely yes. PRP can be done in conjunction with any other cosmetic treatment. It is an excellent treatment to have done in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections to give a great overall glow.

Depending on the treatment, we may recommend a few days between specific procedures – though this would be discussed in the consultation.
